CANDIDATES FOR STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2006-2007

TIGRAN DAVTYAN

First Year Industrial Engineering & Systems Management Student
(Candidate for SC President)

Proposing my candidacy for the President of the Student Council I am aiming to promote general interests and welfare of the students, protect students’ rights and obtain effective communications and relations within and out of AUA community and of course organize and continue different activities carried out by the previous SC members. I believe that these goals can be carried out by creating a dynamic Student Council.
I definitely realize the importance of consistent team work in Student Council and declare my candidacy for President in order to input the experience I gained not only during my studies at AUA, but also from my past. During my service as a vice president in AUA I developed good relations and ideas, which I’ll continue and hopefully it’ll bring its results for AUA Student Body.

  • Creative design, problem solving and analytical abilities;
  • Keen instincts to rapidly effect change, control and improvement;
  • Proven multi-tasking capabilities with strong ability to plan, prioritize and manage complex projects under aggressive timelines;
  • Strong “team player” attitude and spirit.

ANZHELIKA SARGSYAN

First year Political Science and International Affairs Student
(Candidate for SC Vice President)

Dear AUA Students,

I am very happy to have the honor to present my candidacy for the position of Vice-President of the AUA Student Council. Having been involved in the SC activities for the last several months, I’ve got the experience and necessary skills in solving the problems we, students, encounter during our life in the University. I strongly believe that my presence in the AUA Student council will rightly influence on the activities already initiated, moreover shifting more and more attention on the salient issues of great concern to us. As a SC Vice-President,
I will consider it my responsibility to strive to justify your expectations.

ARMEN PAHLAVUNI

First year Industrial Engineering & Systems Management Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

I propose my candidacy for a position as a member at Student Council. I may evaluate myself as having good communicational and organizational skills and desire to work in a team.
Currently, I see that AUA students’ life really lacks in some entertaining programs. As soon as, I become member I will try to organize different parties and competitions for AUA students making their life more interesting, especially during the coming holidays.

CHRISTINA ABRAHAMYAN

First Year Political Science & International Affairs Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

AUA is not just a traditional educational institution. Whoever comes here has a mission. Besides our personal benefits, we have the mission to change and improve our society and country life. As to me, I owe AUA my completely new knowledge and skill, and it is from AUA that I think, I must start to implement them.
It is very interesting what happens to those term papers, research papers or group presentations done by AUA students during each quarter? They become achieved later and that’s all? Why only instructors and few peers read them? There are so many important and worthy thoughts to be presented to public discussions. One way of my evolvement in SC is to promote the academic participation of our students. I will assist for creation of a print or online journal where AUA students could publish their best research papers, articles etc. During this year of my study I saw that not only Political science students need this kind of larger platform debate, discussions and critique but others as well. At least some of us are going to become PhDs and public figures; we must be ready and experienced to get info.
I think this is a one step towards open society. I believe transparency and public discussions will once again add competition and will eliminate chances of academic dishonesty.
Engagement, Discussion and Cooperation are the ways to achieve common desires and goals.

DIANA BAZIYAN

First Year MCLS Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

I want to participate in developing and improving the student life of AUA. In addition, I would like to participate in making changes in Law department concentrating tuition fees and other issues. I have good team spirit and hopefully this will lead Student Council to a great success.

EDMON MIKAYELYAN

First year Industrial Engineering & Systems Management Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

Being the member of AUA Community I would like to have my input into the improvement its social life. I believe that there are lots of problems that need to be solved and I will be happy to have my contribution to that process.
My experience shows that beginning from the APP most of the students need various type of information related to their further educational process. I feel I can provide them necessary information that will help them to integrate into AUA Community. In my opinion it is the obligation of the Student Council to support students to be more informed about the questions related to any type of educational processes which might arise during their study. I aim to strengthen this activity in Student Council.

EMMA STEPANYAN

First Year LLM Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

I am Emma Stepanyan, LLM student.
I am primarily interested in joining Student Council to help improve Students conditions in our University.
The role of Student Counsel in AUA has too much importance for each AUA student. Becoming a member of Student Counsel will give me an opportunity to use my professional skills for protecting students rights and solving some of their problems not only as a friend and lawyer but also as a member of such powerful organization.

LAURA GEVORGYAN

First Year MCLS Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

It is more than a year that AUA Student Council established a Foreign Languages club. So far we have three groups for each three languages and the number of students who want to attend these classes is still growing. This club proved to be of great use to AUA students and for Alumni. Thus I want to continue my work in AUA Student Council as foreign languages coordinator, as I think that the activity of Foreign Languages club should be ongoing.

NARINE ASLANYAN

First Year MCLS Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

I am an MCLS first year student. I want to make improvements in the following areas concerning student life: Law Department (tuition fee and changes in similar programs), Constitution of AUA Student Council, and other interesting entertaining programs.

NVARD CHALIKYAN

First Year Political Science and International Affairs Student
(Candidate for SC Member)

Being a Student Council member is a great honor and it requires responsibility, creativity and love towards all that AUA represents. I got assured in this during the term when I was in Student Council. During this very short period I obtained necessary skills and a better vision on the realization of the things to be done. Those of you who were present must remember my first experience when I invited the filmmaker of “Genocide in Me” for a discussion on her film.
I am currently working on creating new clubs. First I am planning to open a unique club, the main function of which is to promote student activeness and knowledge on topics that concern AUA students’ future as well as crucial issues faced by Armenian youth in general. It is going to include round table discussions with famous experts invited as well as out-door and countryside activities. During the last month I have already established connections with the future guests as well as young people from various NGOs that are eager to join in. I am also going to promote cultural clubs that would develop students’ creative talents.
In this long period of no classes I am planning to organize “Master Classes” that will cover topics useful for the students from each department. This will enable us to keep the connection with the university and get acquainted with people who play important roles in the fields of our future career. Thus the reason I put my candidacy for the coming term is to continue to realize what I have already begun and in that I am looking forward to your support.
