ALUMNI BILLIARD TOURNAMENT: SPRING 2006 - March 25
On March 25, Saturday, the AUA Alumni Association, in co-operation with ARENA Bowling & Billiards Club, organized the first Alumni Billiards Tournament (Spring’2006). The tournament was sponsored by the Tufenkian Hospitality and represented by its Manager – an AUA alumnus and a participant – Hakob Hakobyan (MBA’1996).
10 participants (alumni from PS, MBA and IESM) were registered for the tournament that ultimately lasted 7 hours (!): Hakob Hakobyan, MBA’1996; Suren Ohanyan, PS’1998; Arman Hakobyan, MBA’2000; Mher Sahakyan, MBA’2002; Vahan Danielyan, MBA’2003; Khosrov Harutyunyan, PS’1998; Vigen Kesoyan, IESM’1999; Taron Petevotyan, MBA’2001; Erik Kostandyan, IESM’2004; and Karen Hakobyan, IESM’2005.
Suren Tonoyan, General Secretary of the Armenian Billiards Federation, who awarded each participant with a copy of his book titled "The Alphabet of Billiards", guided the tournament. Alumni First Billiards Tournament succeeded in achieving its goal of networking among alumni around a specific area of interest.
All three winners received free billiards and/or bowling hours and the rest of the participants were provided with 10% discount cards of the ARENA Club. Two non-smoker players were awarded special prizes: T-shirts with non-smoking slogans from Narine Movsisyan, Project Coordinator, Center for Health Services Research and Development, AUA. According to AUA AA's agreement with the Administration of the ARENA Club, they have invited Ruben Potikyan, a famous billiards master, who played with Taron Petevotyan, the runner-up.
