11, 2009 - The
Armenian Bar Association is pleased to announce that it
is accepting applications for its Fourth Annual Scholarship
Program. The Program is designed to support meritorious
students of Armenian descent attending, or accepted for
admission to, an approved law school in the United States
, Armenia or elsewhere. Recipients must demonstrate an
outstanding academic record as well as a strong commitment
to the Armenian community, particularly in humanitarian
and/or law-related endeavors.
Students interested in applying
for an ArmenBar scholarship should obtain an application
at the Armenian Bar Association's website ( www.armenianbar.org ).
The deadline for submitting the application and supporting
documents is March 31, 2009.

course will survey the regulatory regime and practical considerations
relating to banking establishments, management and operations. Although
the primary focus will be on Armenia 's banking laws and
regulations, each topic will be discussed fr om the point
of view of international best practices, national regulatory
framework and current practice. In addition to presenting
the system, the course aims to raise analytical and critical
awareness of a wide range of legal issues connected with
banking arrangements and operations, including but not limited
to drafting internal policies for banks, c om posing model
contracts for a wide range of banking instruments, and

Years of AUA Law Graduates
Last Friday AUA Law celebrated 10 years
of educating law students. Alumni students , faculty
and guests enjoyed a reception at the AUA Business Center
to mark the event. Deputy
Minister of Justice Emil Babayan, an AUA Law graduate,
was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. In his remarks,
Mr. Babayan praised and thanked AUA Law for its contribution
to Armenia 's legal profession and the preparation of a
new generation of attorneys familiar with international
best practices and American legal concepts. He called
on the Department to become more active in legal reform
efforts in Armenia and to provide greater opportunities
for students and alumni to meet regularly. He encouraged
alumni to support the Department through internships for
