Law Curriculum

The AUA LL.M. is organized into 6 quarter-long (10-week), thematic modules, over 2 academic years.

•  International Legal English and Advocacy (first-year fall term) – Legal English, Writing and Research, Argumentation

•  Public International Law – Human Rights, International Law and Institutions

Business Law – Business Organizations, International Business Transactions, Intellectual Property, Tax

•  European Law (second-year fall term) – European Convention on Human Rights, European Union Law

•  Public Law – a new module covering Constitutional and Administrative Law

•  Topics in Law – a new module designed to give students the opportunity to explore various fields in more depth

In addition, all students must complete the Master's Paper and two units of Environmental Science.

Students on average take 8 credits per term, and each module usually consists of 2 required courses and an elective, which may include the Master's Paper or a skills/perspectives/or special topics course, such as Moot Court, Negotiation, European Harmonization, Law & Justice in Popular Culture.

With the permission of the Dean and submission of the necessary application form and fees, non-degree students may choose to enroll in an individual course, a few courses or one module.

Each module and each course gives specific attention to the following as appropriate to the field:

•  Developing Practical Skills : legal research, analysis, writing and policy based advocacy for issues and clients

•  Developing Practical Knowledge : substantive and comprehensive learning of international legal rules and standards important to domestic legal development

•  Developing Practitioner Competency : how to advise a client on the main issues that may arise in a typical transaction or dispute; how to explain to foreign clients, in a context that they understand, the requirements of Armenian law.

Our aim is to enhance each student's competence and confidence as a legal practitioner so that they can advance in their careers as professionals.
