ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for admission to AUA's degree programs, an applicant must meet the general admission requirements and the program specific requirements. General admission requirements are:
1) Hold a baccalaureate degree from a 4-year or 5-year program at an accredited institution of higher education or a licensed institution of higher education in Armenia.
2) Satisfy the English Language Proficiency Requirement as explained below.
3) Take the standardized graduate examination applicable to the particular program as explained below.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
The language of instruction at AUA is English and command of the language, both oral and written, is required for admission to all AUA degree programs. Applicants must demonstrate a level of English proficiency commensurate with the demands of a graduate degree program. An applicant is considered to have met the English Language Proficiency Requirement in the following circumstances:
(a) The language of instruction of the institution in all programs from which he/she received the undergraduate degree is recognized by AUA to be English, or
(b) The applicant presents proof of English proficiency according to the chart below. The test must have been taken within two years prior to the application date. Applicants with less than the required English proficiency may be considered for conditional admission. Such conditionally admitted students will be required to take additional English classes.

The responsibility for the timely payment of the examination fee, the proper registration for the examination, and the timely receipt of the official scores, is the responsibility of the applicant. Applicants should be aware that the time between taking th exam for the tests and AUA receiving official scores can take up to four weeks. Only test scores of examinations taken within the past five years of the application deadline will be considered for admission.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL APPLICANTS
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to AUA. Because the number of students who can be accepted is limited, admission to AUA is competitive and is based on a detailed review of the applicant's academic record and an assessment of the applicant’s seriousness of purpose in seeking to undertake graduate studies at AUA. In the admissions process, all candidates to a program are measured against all the other applicants to that program. Applicants whose overall qualifications best fit both the general AUA requirements and the specific requirements of the program to which they are applying will be selected from the pool of applicants for each year.
SPECIAL ADMISSION
In very rare cases, the Admissions Committee may, at its discretion, admit an applicant who does not meet the minimum requirements but who otherwise has demonstrated the potential to successfully pursue a degree program at AUA. Students admitted to AUA in this category are considered to be on probation and must meet the conditions specified in their letters of admission. Students not meeting these probationary admission conditions will be subject to dismissal from AUA.
