Strategic Planning 2011-2017

AUA is in the midst of its Strategic Plan for 2011 to 2017.   The strategic plan aims to help AUA meet the challenges and rise to the opportunities to better achieve its mission in the coming years by making sure that we have thought through our options and are ready to act in an informed manner when the time is right and situation arises.   The entire university community is invited to share their thoughts and suggestions on the university's future.   We are also encouraging stakeholders from various sectors outside the university to contribute to this endeavor.      

We have been engaged in fact-finding and issue clarification over the past year and are now entering the deliberation phase (July 2011), when we will work together on a roadmap for the university's future.   After this we will have a drafting phase (August), a detail phase (September 1-15) when academic programs and administrative units will up-date and align their strategic plans to the new university plan, and a consolidation phase (Sept. 15-30), during which all these components will be synthesized into a comprehensive strategic plan for the university, to be delivered on Oct. 1.   Throughout the process, drafts and other documents will be made available on this web-site for your information and comment.   

The following are the preliminary materials for the Deliberation Phase (July).   They, like the entire process, are a work in progress.   We will be refining our vision and our analysis throughout the coming weeks and months.    This is our university's plan, which means we have the responsibility for making sure it is well-grounded, yet inspiring.   The powerpoint on the strategic planning process presented at the July 7th opening of the deliberation phase gives a good overview and explains  how you can contribute to the plan.   

We welcome comments and suggestions and encourage constructive criticism to improve the final outcome of this effort. This is an iterative process, so there will be many opportunities to address concerns and refine the plan.   Feel free to make suggestions to the various sectoral and stakeholders representatives who will be taking part in the mapping section on July 22-23, or submit your suggestions directly at strategy2017@aua.am.
