AUA Welcomes Potential Students to Open House

Yerevan - the American University of Armenia (AUA) held its first Open House of 2007 on Saturday, March 17, 2007, to introduce its programs, mission, and admission requirements to potential students and the community at large. Over 250 potential applicants came through AUA's doors into the Mihran and Elizabeth Agbabian Hall. Visitors were given the opportunity to meet with alumni of the various academic programs, as well as with faculty members. A special presentation was given at 12:30 that discussed admissions and financial assistance opportunities for AUA students.

AUA is the first university in Armenia to offer student loans, and it is the first university to offer need-based tuition assistance. "We want very much for all qualified students - regardless of their financial situation - to be able to study at AUA," said the Director of Student Affairs Mary Lackie.

"The Open House is a great time for students who are interested in AUA - either now or in the future - to come and learn more about us. All departments were represented, so students visited with faculty and asked lots of questions about the programs in which they are interested. It's important for prospective students to know that we have changed many things about our admissions process and deadlines for applying," clarified Mary Lackie.

"Open House provides prospective students with the opportunity to get the most up-to-date information. No one should rely on old information or something that a friend might have told them - even if that friend is an alumnus of AUA. Many things have changed that our alumni might not be aware of, so students were encouraged to come to the Open House and learn about AUA for themselves," continued the Director of Student Affairs.
